WHAT DOES THE CLTCH DO?
Your clutch is the part of your vehicle that gives you control of it by transferring power from the engine to the wheels. If you push down on the clutch pedal it allows you to change gear - which helps you in different driving situations. For instance, when you’re trying to move your vehicle slowly or when you’re waiting in traffic.
The clutch is made up of different parts - this includes the clutch plate and flywheel which connect the shaft that comes from the engine. It is also made up of the shaft that turns the wheels of your vehicle.
So, how does movement occur in your wheels? If the clutch pedal isn’t depressed, the pressure plate pushes the clutch plate against the flywheel - this connects the engine to the shaft and creates movement.
When the clutch pedal is depressed it can pull the pressure plate away from the clutch plate. This results in the connection between the engine and the wheels being halted which allows the wheels to rotate due to their own movement and without power from the engine.
