Dealer Level Car Diagnostics - Cheadle Hulme

When a warning light comes on – or something just isn’t right, and nobody can tell you why – the quality of the diagnostic equipment matters enormously.

At Alan Thompson Motor Engineers, we use the same manufacturer-level systems that franchised dealerships use: ODIS for VW Group vehicles, Xentry for Mercedes-Benz, and FDRS for Ford. These are not generic aftermarket tools. They are the systems built specifically for each manufacturer, giving us access to every module, every data stream, and every coding and programming function the vehicle supports.

Why It Matters

A standard scan tool reads fault codes. Our systems go far deeper with live data analysis, module programming, key coding, software updates, and the ability to diagnose faults that basic equipment will miss entirely. This is why customers often come to Alan Thompson Motor Engineers having been told by other garages that nothing could be found, or that a repair wasn’t possible. In most cases, we find it.

Beyond the Code Reader

Diagnostics at Alan Thompson Motor Engineers is not a five-minute job with a plug-in reader. It is a methodical process using the right tools, carried out by experienced technicians who understand how modern vehicles communicate and where faults actually originate – not just where they show up.
